Reuben accepts instructions in all areas of public law and human rights.
During pupillage, he assisted on a range of public law and human rights matters, including:
- A judicial review of a deprivation of citizenship decision in the Special Immigration Appeals Commission.
- A judicial review of a refusal to grant assistance under the Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy.
- Post-closing submissions on the weight to be attached to a particular document in a judicial review of an age assessment.
- Advice on merits and quantum for a false imprisonment claim and Article 8 ECHR damages claim in the immigration context.
- A judicial review of a housing allocation scheme, alleging discrimination under both the Equality Act and Article 14 ECHR.
- A defence to a judicial review of the Department of Education’s decision to establish an arms-length body to offer free curriculum resources online.
- A case concerning the compatibility of energy regulations with A1P1 ECHR.
- An advice on whether a foreign domiciled company could be compelled to attend a public inquiry.
Reuben has also undertaken pro bono work in the field of social security law, including successfully representing a client at the First-tier Tribunal (Social Security and Child Support), and assisting a client to claim compensation for maladministration.
